I found this awhile ago and thought it sounded so good with the maple syrup added and letting it soak all night. It really did give the casserole a nice flavor and the topping was a nice touch as well.
Baked Cinnamon French Toast
1 loaf day old sourdough bread, cubed
5 eggs
1 C milk
1 C heavy whipping cream
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 C maple syrup
Streusel Topping:
1 C packed brown sugar
1 C all-purpose flour
1/2 C quick cooking oats
1 stick butter, softened
Spray 9 X13 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and add bread cubes. In medium bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, and syrup until blended. Pour mixture over bread cubes. Cover dish with foil and refrigerate over night. Pre Heat oven to 350F. In a small bowl mix streusel ingredients until forms a crumble. Sprinkle over bread. Bake in oven 40 minutes. Serve with maple syrup.
